Green Day at school

Hello! Green Day was fun because we got to be as green as we could be. We saw lots of interesting outfits and we got to send a lot of money to the Arohanui Hospice to help the people who are very sick.

Lamb and Calf Day 2010

Wow! we have just had our Lamb and Calf Day at school and now we know all about this special day. We got to watch Georgia and Kevin the lamb do their calling and they got a blue ribbon because they came second. Kevin walked straight up to Georgia. We made our vaseline plates and they looked so good. They made a lovely smell in our room and the whole table looked fantastic. Our favourite was the big kids cakes...they were so awesome and we just wanted to eat them all up!!!!

Hello everyone! Today was exciting not just because it was the last day of term but because Kevin the lamb came for a visit. He is Lachlan's family's lamb until this afternoon and then he is going to live with Georgia on her farm. He felt soft and warm. He smelt like wool and milk. He thought Vicki was his mother and he followed her out of the room when it was time to go.

Handwashing Afternoon

We have brainstormed how we think we should wash our hands and we have looked at some charts on websites and in books. Then it was time to try it out! We painted our partners hands so that we had some 'dirt' or 'germs' to wash off. We found that it takes lots of water and soap and TIME to make a good job. We had a lot of fun too!

Rainbow Day at school

Can you guess what colour we were for this special day? Yes! Orange! It was such a fun day and we took a lot of photos. Mr Reed climbed up on the roof of Rooms 9 and 10 to take a photo of the whole school because we had made a rainbow altogether.

Vicki the bone expert visits us.

Vicki is Ryan's mum and she is a radiographer. She came to share what she knows about bones and that is a lot. We loved her bone suit and she even took a pretend xray of McKenzie's hands. Vicki was able to answer our wonderings about bones and she helped us to get to know so much more about them. What would you like to ask us? Would you like to wear a suit like this one? It was so cool! We made our own skeletons in class and we knew just where to put all the bones. We have Jim the skeleton in our room from Vicki and it helped us heaps. Thank you Vicki!

Our Most Amazing Machine

We have just begun our inquiry unit for this term on Our Most Amazing Machine. We think it is cool to call our body a machine. We put Lachlan on a big, huge piece of paper and then we drew around him. The paper was only just long enough. We think he must have grown taller in the holidays!! Then we thought of all the parts we knew on the inside and the outside. We knew heaps of outside parts and we will know so many more inside parts when we find answers to all our wonderings as we go along through our learning.

Today we looked at the skeleton that Ryan's Mum gave us to help us with our learning. We could feel lots of our bones just like the ones we could see on the skeleton. We watched a skeleton dance and a skeleton telling us about the bones on Youtube for children. The skeletons were funny and they helped us with lots of the names of the bones.

Hello everyone! We are all back at school. Everyone had a great holiday. Room 10 has 4 new children........McKenzie, Lucy, Makayla and Renee. 7 of our children moved to Room 11. They are still our friends and we love to see them in the playground. That's Riley, Keira, Daniel, Melissa, Maia, Jacob and Louise.

Mount Bruce Trip

Hello everyone! It's been a long time since we put something on our blog. We have been busy finding out about spiders and ladybirds. Now we are finding the answers to our wonderings about snails. Hello again everyone! We have had a bit of trouble with our internet connections so we have been off the page for a few days. Shannon was Top Star yesterday and Phoenix was today.

We have a College teacher in Room 10 and his name is Mr.Mac. We are lucky because we get to have 2 teachers.

Last week we went to a little park to search for creatures. We have some photos of our visit to show you all. We found.......spiders, a blue ladybug, a moth chrysalis, a cicada shell and heaps more.......even a spider's egg sac!

Hello again! It's Week 2 and it's Tuesday. Last Friday our Top Star was Seamus and yesterday it was Taika. We walked down to the Cenotaph to see the Anzac wreaths. Our school gave one to remember the soldiers. Lachlan and Seamus have army dads.

Hello everyone! Today is Thursday and our Top Star is Kaci. Kaci just started school this week.

After lunch we went outside to SPY living things in our school palyground. We spied spiders, bugs, worms, birds and slaters.

Hello! It's Wednesday today and our Top Star is Jade. Yesterday the Top Star was Jacob.Every day we are training for the Cross Country Race. We are running around our school track. We love doing that.

Today our Top Stars have been Jacob and Ryan S. We are getting excited about easter and the holidays. Riley said that Easter was 6 sleeps away. Tomorrow is our school triathlon.
